Some incidents of sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct may be resolved through an informal resolution process.

Informal resolution (IR) is a voluntary, structured facilitated resolution between parties. During the IR process, parties are never expected to communicate directly with each other unless both choose to do so. The goal of IR is to facilitate mutually agreed upon terms to resolve the alleged conduct. The IR process is intended to be flexible while also providing a full range of possible outcomes. IR does not involve a full investigation and does not result in a determination of whether a policy was or was not violated. The parties who voluntarily elect to engaged in the IR process are expected to participate in good faith, consider offers or suggestions with an open mind, work constructively toward a mutually acceptable resolution, and, if the process is successful, implement any agreement in good faith. A successful agreement resolves the matter at issue. Neither party may file or refile (as applicable) a complaint based on the same circumstances.
